Prema Menon, Development consultant at Samuham Media and host of the "What We Can Do?" podcast, spoke with Stephen Woodlands, our Head Start Homes Founder and Managing Director.

Prima and Stephen talk about Australia's current homelessness crisis and how creating pathways to homeownership is a critical step towards addressing homelessness. Stephen spoke with Prema about the goals and motives of Head Start Homes, as well as the importance of all Australians having equal opportunity and access to a secure and stable home.

"Empowered individuals make the greatest decisions for their own life," Stephen said when Prema asked what message he wanted listers to take away from the chat.

“Currently the reason why a whole lot of people aren’t getting in homeownership is not because they’re not trying hard, it’s because they face barriers that other Australians don’t. So please believe in that, but you know take away with you that everyone should have equal access to opportunity and everyone should have equal access to homeownership.

“We believe in head starts not hand outs. So we’re not talking about giving money to our clients, we’re just talking about giving equal access and a level playing field. So we're not talking about giving money to our clients, were just talking about giving equal access and  a level playing field. and really if we can all come on that journey together then I think that's a remarkable outcome for the whole of the Australian community.”
