Snow Foundation provides an additional $500k in funding
We are thrilled to announce that Head Start Homes has received an additional $500,000 3-year grant from Snow Foundation, bringing their total support to an incredible $750,000! This generous funding will significantly enhance our Empowerment Services, helping more clients improve their financial capability and towards achieving their dream of homeownership.
For the first time, Head Start Homes has received funding under two of Snow Foundation's four pillars:
Our Place: Supporting Canberra and key regions NSW South Coast and Sydney.
Our Country: Supporting system change to address entrenched disadvantage.
With Snow Foundation's support, we launched our Canberra Home Ownership Program in collaboration with Community Housing Canberra (CHC) and St. George Bank. In June 2024, we presented at CHCβs Tenant Forum, resulting in 11 social and affordable housing tenants applying for our Empowerment Services. Participants have benefited from our dedicated Home Ownership Success Team, including our Client Manager, Financial Capability Workers, and access to free property coaching and discounted conveyancing. The program has already been a success, significantly improving clients' financial capability and has already supported one household into homeownership. Further, this success has made a CHC home available for another family on their housing waitlist.
Additionally, Snow Foundation has extended its support for our National Empowerment Service Program for another three years in recognition of our positive client outcomes. Their funding has helped clients in almost every state and territory and supported home purchases in New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and Victoria. Two-thirds of our new homeowners are First Nations, and almost half are single mums.
We are immensely grateful to Snow Foundation for their unwavering support and commitment to our mission. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of many individuals and families.
