Adelaide Operations Commence Thanks to Partnerships with Local Icons

We’re pleased to announce that we have commenced operations in Adelaide, thanks to local partnerships with two of Adelaide’s oldest and most iconic organisations: the Adelaide Benevolent Society and The Wyatt Trust.

Funding for the new Adelaide pilot will be provided by the Adelaide Benevolent Society (ABS) established in 1849, and The Wyatt Trust (Wyatt) established in 1886. Both of these wonderful charities have a long history of improving the lives of many South Australians through their tireless work of providing hope and equal access to opportunity for those desperately in need.

Head Start Homes’ Founder, Stephen Woodlands, said:

“We’re delighted to be partnering with such iconic South Australian organisations. These landmark partnerships will help to ensure that more South Australians have access to safe and stable homes via our innovative home ownership pathway. I’m also pleased that our newest area of operations will be in the wonderful city of Adelaide where I had the privilege of growing up. Adelaide is filled with kind hearted people who really care about making a difference in their local communities”.

On a recent trip to Adelaide, Stephen had the privilege of meeting many great South Australians. He summed up his feelings as follows:

“A special thanks to Tim Ryan (CEO, ABS), the ABS Board, Kate Fox (Wyatt), Ben Owen (Bank SA) and Zoe Darling (SA Government) and everyone else for making me feel so welcome and for your passion and dedication for bringing about meaningful positive change”.

Under the Adelaide pilot Head Start Homes will provide its Head Start Guarantee and empowerment services to help empower ABS tenants to achieve their home ownership dreams.

Tim Ryan stated:

“Adelaide Benevolent Society is excited to be working with Head Start Homes because our partnership means we can help our tenants achieve their home ownership dreams, while at the same time freeing up more affordable homes for South Australians in need.

Already, one of our tenant households has commenced a savings plan with Head Start Homes and is progressing towards become mortgage-ready”.

Kate Fox commented:

“Wyatt is pleased to be supporting Head Start Homes because their innovative pathway provides a missing piece in the home ownership puzzle for South Australians living in community housing.”

Stephen also spoke about Head Start Homes’ success to date:

“We also commenced operations in the Mid-North Coast where our clients have, on average, increased their savings by 500% due to the hope provided by our home ownership pathway. We look forward to seeing similar results for our Adelaide clients. Throughout this year and the next, we’ll assist housing tenants to achieve their home ownership dreams while also freeing up much needed stable housing for vulnerable families”.

Head Start Homes also held a small briefing event in Adelaide where we provided a progress update of our activities in Adelaide and those we’re undertaking more broadly. The event was attended by 10 Adelaide organisations, predominantly from the charitable, banking and property sectors. Many thanks to all who attended.
