Announcing our HomeOwnership Success Team
Head Start Homes (HSH) is thrilled to announce that its team is growing, with two of our newest members forming the HomeOwnership Success Team. This team drives our mission to support even more people secure their first home.
Jo Formosa joins us as HomeOwnership and Communications Success Executive, and Kate Fenton is our HomeOwnership Success Manager. Both women bring a wealth of knowledge having worked in the human service sector, with the dedication to First Nations people, families and community.
Jo Formosa has more than 35 years working alongside Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people across the human services sector, working in and across the social justice spectrum of housing, child protection, education and training, and customer service. Jo was instrumental in designing and implementing the Home Ownership program at the Aboriginal Housing Office, which has supported more than 100 First Nations’ Peoples achieve their homeownership dream.
“I am super excited to be part of the HSH family, working towards increasing homeownership opportunities with, and for our clients,” Jo said.
“It is an exciting time to develop products and services that will empower people to realise home ownership aspirations within a forward-thinking organisation.”
Having grown up in social housing, Kate has spent more than 20 years working alongside First Nations communities, primarily in the education and employment space. During her career Kate has engaged with many First Nations communities across Australia, listening and learning from them, through engagement and truth telling discussions.
Kate has been a mentor with the Workabout Centre, a support and outreach worker with Nuri Gill (University of New South Wales), advisor with CareerTrackers, as well as a Grants Manager with the Wyatt Trust.
“I’m thrilled to be joining HSH in the HomeOwnership Success Team, because I love working alongside people and supporting them to achieve their goals,” Kate said.
“I am really looking forward to supporting and advocating for people and their families on their journey towards home ownership.”
Head Start Homes Founder and Managing Director, Stephen Woodlands, said he looked forward to seeing the results of Jo and Kate’s work in the coming months.
“I’m delighted and thrilled to welcome Jo and Kate to our HomeOwnership Success Team. They are passionate about achieving our vision and their expertise and lived experience will enhance and expand the delivery of our Empowerment Services and Products. In essence this means that more clients will be assisted in achieving their homeownership dreams and we will develop even deeper connections with First Nations Communities.”
