Head Start Homes features on ABC news advocating for change
Check out this recent ABC news story about the housing squeeze being faced by too many South Australians.
This story demonstrates the growing housing crisis in South Australia for people on lower incomes by highlighting solo parent Jenna's struggle to access a safe and stable home for her and her children.
The clip also features Head Start Homes client Danielle who explains some of the added homeownership barriers faced by social housing tenants, which includes a fear of being evicted because she received a pay rise at work.
Our Founder, Stephen Woodlands explains that we should be doing more to invest in people so that they can have equal access to homeownership: “because when we get it right the entire community greatly benefits”.
Stephen grew up in social housing in South Australia and understands from lived experience the plight faced by both those trying to get into social housing as well as those trying to get out once they are back on their feet.
A special thanks to Sara Tomevska from ABC for creating this story.
