Building Partnerships and Empowering Communities in the Illawarra
In October, Head Start Homes actively participated in two significant community events, showcasing our commitment to addressing housing affordability and fostering strong community partnerships.
On October 3rd, Stephen Woodlands and Linda Bunclark from Head Start Homes attended the Cost of Living Expo in Wollongong. Hosted by Alison Byrnes MP, Ryan Park MP, and Paul Scully MP, the event featured over 30 services dedicated to supporting the local Wollongong community.
The expo provided a valuable opportunity for our team to engage with the community and discuss important issues related to housing affordability and homeownership. During the event, Stephen and Linda had the opportunity to meet with Alison Byrnes MP, Ryan Park MP, and Paul Scully MP, as well as a bunch of important local service delivery partners further emphasising the importance of the event and the collaborative efforts to support the community.
Our participation in the expo highlights Head Start Homes' dedication to addressing the challenges faced by our clients and finding innovative solutions to improve their living conditions. Their presence at the event also underscores our commitment to building strong community partnerships and fostering meaningful connections with other organisations.
On 22 October 2024, Head Start Homes proudly participated in the Illawarra Services Expo held at the Illawarra Sports Stadium in Berkeley. This event was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our services and connect with the community. With over 55 services in attendance, the expo was a bustling hub of activity, bringing together a diverse range of organisations dedicated to supporting the Illawarra region.
The acknowledgment of Country was beautifully performed by students from Koonawarra Public School, adding a special touch to the event.
The expo featured services across various sectors, including mental health and counselling, accommodation, youth services and mentoring, child protection and safety, family support, legal and domestic violence assistance, cultural support, education, employment, and health.
Throughout the day, we engaged with numerous attendees, sharing information about our services and building connections with other organisations. The expo provided a valuable platform for networking and collaboration, allowing us to strengthen our ties within the community and explore new opportunities for partnership. We are grateful to the organisers, including Michelle Blake, Education Court Liaison Officer - Illawarra, for their efforts in making this event a success.
As we reflect on our participation in the Illawarra Community Services Expo, we are inspired by the dedication and passion of all the services involved. We look forward to continuing our work in the Illawarra region and building on the connections made at this event.
These events underscore Head Start Homes' ongoing commitment to supporting our clients in the Illawarra and the broader community. We are proud to be part of such meaningful initiatives and look forward to continuing our efforts to improve living conditions and foster strong community partnerships.
